    quick way to get WDK?

    Hello.

The URL in AWD doesn't seem to take me to a quick way to download the WDK.  Instead, you seem required to go to a site where you need to set up a Windows Live ID and jump through a bunch of hoops to get the WDK.  I will, if necessary, but is there an easy way to get the WDK like there is for the other tools, like debuggers, featured in AWD?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The WDK is only available via the Microsoft Connect website which requires registration.

    Thanks,

    Mario

Agree with OP. It's great that the WDK is made available for free, but it takes a lot of time to set up.

For me it went something like this:
    - Go to the WHCP site
    - Find a link to Microsoft Connect
    - Look up my Windows Live ID
    - Search in a long list for the WDK "connection"
    - "Apply" for the connection
    - Search within the connection for the download
    - Get confused by the weird name of the downloads and crosscheck with the book
    - Settle on one labelled "Windows Server 2008 RC1"
    - Install the activex download manager
    - Wait for download to complete
    - Download WinRAR to extract the files from the ISO
    - Wait for extract to complete
    - Click through the installer
    - Wait for installer to complete
    - Click through the documentation installer
    - Wait for installer to complete

A bittorrent link to the installer would've saved a lot of time.
